Portable Infrared Heaters: Your Personal Warmth, On Demand
We built this portable infrared heater for one simple reason: to give you warmth that’s all yours. It’s not about heating an entire room. It’s about creating a cozy pocket of heat right where you need it—your reading corner, your desk, your little slice of calm.
The Power Behind the Warmth
Here’s the heart of it: a compact halogen lamp core. We’re talking about a power range of 200W to 500W, running on your standard home outlet (120V/230V). It’s the perfect sweet spot—plenty of punch from a small package, without needing a complicated electrical setup. And the whole thing is designed to be a breeze to move around. The lamp itself is short, usually under 300mm, so the heater stays slim and light. Big heat, tiny footprint.
What It’s Made Of (And Why It Works)
Inside, you’ve got a halogen capsule snug inside a quartz tube. Quartz is tough—it can handle wild temperature swings without cracking, and it lets that infrared energy pass through cleanly. The halogen cycle keeps the filament stable, too, which means the whole thing lasts longer than your basic incandescent bulb. When it comes to the connections, we went with an R7s connector. It’s a practical, no-fuss choice that holds the lamp securely and makes replacing it a simple drop-in job. The wiring inside is built for the wattage, and the reflector is shaped to aim all that warmth forward, not wasted to the sides.
The Payoff: Warmth That Moves With You
This design is all about personal comfort, whether you’re staying put or on the move. The heater sends infrared energy directly onto its target, warming you and your surroundings, not the air around you. The result? You feel warm almost instantly, and drafts don’t steal that warmth away. There are a couple of things to keep in mind, of course. The heat is directional, so you’ll need to aim it where you want it. And at full power, the lamp gets seriously hot, so you’ll want to keep the unit away from anything flammable or within reach. But for a single-person setup—like a cozy reading nook—that’s exactly the point. You get a precise, movable zone of warmth, with simple wiring and an easy-to-replace lamp when its time comes.
